Category: Film & Film Processing Film Processing Chemicals

Part of our Eco Range of developing chemicals, that we specially created for safer use in schools and colleges, this universal stop bath is based on citric acid and is specifically formulated for all black and white film and paper use as it stops the action of the developer immediately.

Being odourless and less harmful than normal acetic acid (free from PBT/vPvB chemicals), this stop is a lot more eco-friendly than normal.

The stop bath helps to reduce the contamination of the fixer and thereby prolong the life of fixer bath. It also includes an indicator to show when it is exhausted.

One litre of concentrate is diluted 1+19 for film or paper with film taking 40-60 seconds to complete its action.

Isabella ★★★★★

I’ve used it in my classroom darkroom for weeks now, and the citric acid formula means no harsh fumes hanging over the trays. One liter lasts through plenty of sessions since I just mix what I need and it keeps fine in the bottle.

Ellie N. ★★★★★

The citric acid base is such a relief for classroom use—no harsh fumes hanging around after developing. Clears film quickly and leaves prints clean, so it’s doing its job without the usual chemical sting.

Violet I. ★★★★★

The citric acid formula means practically no vinegar smell compared to other stop baths I've tried, and it still stops development instantly. Nice to have something safer for when my kids help out in the darkroom.
