If you have to buy a new lens you may find that your old filters don?t fit the new filter size. Buying a stepping ring from Hoya can extend the life of old filters.

Step-up rings allow you to use a filter which has a larger thread than the lens. More common are step-down rings, which allow you to use a filter which is smaller than the lens thread. In either case, when ordering please quote the lens thread size first.

Maximum step size is 72mm. Take care not to use too small a filter as vignetting arises - especially with fast lenses.

Sophia ★★★★★

Finally, a way to use my 52mm polarizer on my new 58mm lens. The threads are smooth and it screws on without any wobble, so no extra vignetting in the corners.

Natalie ★★★★★

I was worried my old 67mm filters would be useless after switching lenses, but this ring threads smoothly and locks them on tight with no wobble during shots.

Henry ★★★★★

Finally got this step-up ring so my old 52mm filters work on my new 67mm lens, and it threads on smooth without any wobble. The metal feels solid enough for regular use, and it's saved me from buying a whole new set of filters. Honestly, for the price, it's a no-brainer.
