We consider Dektol as Kodak's standard paper developer. Now available only in powder form, it is a high capacity black and white print developer designed for tray processing and all ancillary work like photo emulsion work.

It renders neutral to warm-black image tones in standard processing but is also is capable of producing cool tones with cool-tone paper.

You dilute it 1+2 to get your working solution, and the packet makes a total of 3.8 litres or one gallon of this solution to use.

The powder will last indefinitely, but if made up as a concentrate, it would last six months in a tightly capped bottle or eight weeks as a half bottle of working solution.

William ★★★★★

I’ve been using this in my darkroom for weeks now and the prints come out with a crisp, deep black that I couldn’t get from other developers. Mixing the powder takes just a couple minutes, and the 3.8L batch lasts through my weekend sessions without losing strength.

Scarlett I. ★★★★★

The powder dissolves fast and leaves no residue, which makes tray prep painless. I've run a full session of prints and the developer held its strength through the whole batch. Perfect for anyone doing standard tray work.

Matthew ★★★★★

The powder form dissolves cleanly with just a bit of stirring, and one batch lasted me through a solid evening of printing without losing contrast. The 3.8L capacity is plenty for my 8x10 trays, so this is becoming my go-to for consistent fiber-base prints.
