Negative Supply Basic Riser MK3 Copy Stand for Film Scanning

The Negative Supply Basic Riser MK3 is a robust and versatile copy stand designed to provide a stable foundation for camera-based film scanning. As a significant upgrade over the previous MK2 version, it offers increased height, improved rigidity, and a solid steel base, making it suitable for a wide range of camera and macro lens combinations, from compact mirrorless setups through to larger professional systems.

System Compatibility Notes

This riser is designed to form the core of a Negative Supply camera scanning setup, supporting your digital camera above a compatible light source and film carrier system. It pairs seamlessly with Negative Supply light sources and film carriers and is compatible with most DSLR, mirrorless, and many medium format digital cameras. The Basic Riser MK3 supports camera and lens combinations up to a 105mm full-frame equivalent focal length when scanning 120 (medium format) film. For heavier or gripped camera bodies, or users requiring additional height, a larger riser such as the Basic Riser XL may be more suitable.

Why We Like It

A stable camera position is critical for sharp, consistent scans, and this is where the Basic Riser MK3 really stands out. The solid steel base and improved column design give it a much more planted feel compared to lighter setups, which helps reduce vibration and keeps framing consistent. The height range is also very practical, allowing you to scan everything from 35mm through to 4x5 with the right lens. It is a well thought out upgrade that brings many of the benefits of the Pro range into a more accessible package.

Claire ★★★★★

The column adjusts smoothly and locks tight, so my setup stays perfectly aligned between scans. It took a few tries to get the camera positioned right, but now I can batch through a roll without any drift issues.

Eli L. ★★★★★

The metal base plate is heavy enough that my camera setup doesn't wobble at all during scans. I've been using it with a macro lens and the vertical column holds position perfectly even when I flip the arm out to the side.

Riley ★★★★★

The locking mechanism on this thing is rock solid, so there's zero wobble even with my heavy camera angled down at 90 degrees. Setting up my scanning workflow took minutes, and the stability alone has cut my reshoots by half.
