Negative Supply Essential Kit for 35mm Film Scanning (2025 Version)

The Negative Supply Essential Kit for 35mm Film Scanning (2025 Version) is a compact, accessible system designed to make high-quality 35mm film scanning simple and affordable. Built around the Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2 and the all-new Light Source 35, this kit provides everything you need to start digitising film at home with a DSLR or mirrorless camera, without the complexity or cost of larger setups.

System Compatibility Notes

This kit is designed specifically for 35mm film, supporting half-frame, standard 35mm, and panoramic formats using the included masks. It can also be expanded with optional cassettes to scan 110, APS, 126, and Minox film. The included Basic Riser Mini MK3 is best suited to ungripped DSLR and mirrorless cameras paired with macro lenses up to around 100mm full-frame equivalent, making it ideal for compact scanning setups.

Why We Like It

This is one of the most straightforward ways to get into camera scanning without compromising on quality. The Light Source 35 is impressively bright and evenly illuminated, and the updated Basic Riser Mini MK3 removes many of the limitations of earlier compact stands. Paired with the improved film flatness of the Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2, it delivers consistently sharp results in a setup that is easy to use and doesn’t take up much space.

Jacob C. ★★★★★

I’ve been using this kit for a few weeks now and the magnetic film holders make loading strips so much quicker than my old setup. The included light source is bright and even, which really cuts down on dust spotting in my scans.

Brian ★★★★★

The little adjustable height knobs on the scanning stage make it so easy to get perfectly flat negatives every time. I was able to digitize a whole roll in under 15 minutes without any fiddling.

Madison ★★★★★

The magnetic film holder snaps into place so securely that I don't have to worry about shifting negatives mid-scan, which saves me a ton of time. Flatness is excellent right out of the box—no more fighting with curled film.
