SelectaColor is an alternative process for making continuous-tone prints of any size on paper, plastics, glass, ceramics, metals, and other materials.

The process consists of three simple steps: Apply the photosensitive pigment by brush, cloth, sponge or roller. This can be done under subdued room light. (The standard colours in the kit are blue, red, yellow and black). Then print onto the sensitized surface through a full-size 8x10 inch or A4 transparency, using daylight or other bright light source (This can be produced from Maco lith negatives traditionally or from a computer using ink jet or our own inkjet transparency film). After wiping off the surface, the unexposed areas will dissolve away, while areas that have been hardened by light remain, revealing a brilliantly-coloured full-range positive image. SelectaColor prints are archivally-permanent, as they consist of solid pigments, not fugitive dyes. All the colours are semi-transparent, so they can be mixed for intermediate hues and can be applied in sequence for multicoloured prints. SelectaColor is particularly useful for proofing a small section of a large substrate, such as a portion of a map or poster.

Thomas ★★★★★

Used it on a ceramic vase and was shocked how sharp the continuous-tone came out. The three-step process was straightforward, and the 4oz bottle covered more surface area than I expected.

Emma ★★★★★

The three-step application made creating a continuous-tone print on a ceramic tile surprisingly straightforward. I’m really impressed with how the final image looks on glass—the colors stayed crisp and vivid.

Chloe R. ★★★★★

I’ve been experimenting with applying it to metal sheets, and the coating went on smoothly with no bubbles. The prints came out vivid and held up well even after a gentle wipe test.
