The quality of the enlarging lens that you choose directly affects the quality of your final print, regardless of the technological excellence of your choice of enlarger (or camera, for that matter). So trying to find value for money takes a lot of work. It does follow that, in our experience, you 'get what you pay for when buying enlarger lenses.

However, with our budget-enlarging lens no longer available we've decided to turn to good second-hand lenses to fulfil this demand.

Availabilty is the key and we try and source either Schneider, Durst or Minolta.

Charlotte X. ★★★★★

I was skeptical about upgrading my darkroom setup, but this lens delivers the sharpness I’ve been chasing—edges stay crisp even at f8, and the glass feels solidly built for the price. It’s made a noticeable difference in my 8x10 prints, so I’m glad I finally listened to the advice about investing in

The resolution on this 50mm f3.5 has made a noticeable difference in my darkroom prints—edges are crisp even at wider apertures. It's a solid upgrade from the kit lens I was using, and the build feels precise without being overly heavy. Just what I needed for better sharpness in 35mm enlargements.

Miles T. ★★★★★

I was hesitant to swap lenses on my enlarger, but this one delivers noticeably crisper blacks and smoother midtones right out of the box. The f3.5 aperture gives me enough light to focus even on dense negatives, and the build feels rock-solid for the price.
