This is the replacement sensitizer for the Argyrotype kit.

This silver-based sensitising solution, coated onto a quality art paper creates a sun print.

Exposure is by natural sunlight (you may need a UV light source for the winter months or for speedier exposure) and development is in water with fixation using a simple hypo solution.

Argyrotype prints are warm toned giving good contrast and midtone definition. Being silver based they can then be toned and dyed as they would have been in the early days. You make all images are made by the contact system, where the image depends on a negative of the right size.

The 50ml. of sensitising solution is enough for 60 8x10 prints, we recommend the Adox paper if you need paper to coat on.

Miles ★★★★★

Had to mix a bit longer than expected to get an even coating, but the deep chocolate browns it produces on hot-pressed paper are gorgeous. Definitely worth experimenting with different watercolour papers for varied tones.

Adam ★★★★★

The texture of this sensitizer coats smoothly onto the paper without clumping, and the prints come out with a really nice, even tone after an hour in the sun.

Robert O. ★★★★★

I finally got consistent, rich brown tones after switching to this sensitizer—the silver-based formula holds detail much better in direct sunlight than my old batch. It’s pricier per ml than the kit, but the results are worth it for serious alt-process prints.
