Whether you decide to process your own black and white or colour films you will need some kind of developing tank. This is the simplest of all home processing techniques. We sell a wide range of plastic developing tanks and plastic or stainless steel reels, which are less prone to developer staining. We even sell complete Beginner Film Processing Kits to get you started.

You can only get a good print by starting with a good negative so take care when film processing to maintain temperature during development, especially for colour work. If you do make a mistake in processing, you might be able to rescue the work by using an intensifier or reducer, but you should start from the outset with the view that you will only get one chance to produce good negatives.

All multi Reel tanks come without reels.

Each tank processes the number of 35mm films designated in its heading e.g. 3, 5 or 8.

Violet R. ★★★★★

The reels click in and out so smoothly that even my first loading attempt went without a single snag, which was a huge relief. I processed four rolls in one go and the chemistry stayed right at temperature the whole time. This tank makes home developing feel genuinely simple.

James R. ★★★★★

Loading 5 reels at once saved me a ton of time compared to my old single-reel tank, and the plastic feels sturdy enough to last for years. The simple twist-lid design is mess-free and easy to use even with wet hands.

Penelope R. ★★★★★

First timer here and this tank made the whole process feel way less intimidating than I expected. The multi-reel design means I can do two rolls at once, which is a huge time saver when you've got a backlog of film to develop.
