Category: Film & Film Processing Black & White Film

Ilford XP2 SUPER is a sharp, fast, fine grain black and white film that ensures excellent results, especially when there is a wide subject brightness range.

It is easy to process, as it is a black and white film which is processed in C41 type processing chemicals, alongside colour negative films.

Negatives are printed on black and white paper, in the same way as conventional black and white negatives. XP2 SUPER has extremely wide exposure latitude. It can be pushed up to EI 800/30 or pulled to EI 50/18 - so it can be exposed at a setting to suit the job.

The benefit of a variable speed also provides security against inadvertent over- or underexposure.

Lucy D. ★★★★★

The fine grain really holds up in harsh midday sun, which is exactly where this film shines. I pushed it through a roll with mostly backlit subjects and the wide brightness range came out smooth, no blown highlights. Processing at a regular lab was hassle-free too.

Aurora S. ★★★★★

I’ve been shooting this roll in mixed lighting and the fine grain really holds up—even in those high-contrast scenes it handled the shadows and highlights beautifully. The 24 exposures are perfect for when I’m testing a new camera without committing to a full 36-frame roll.

Evelyn D. ★★★★★

I’ve been using this 400-speed film for street shots in mixed lighting, and it handles the contrast beautifully without losing shadow detail. The fine grain is a real bonus for such a versatile black-and-white stock.
